Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has signed the law on the ratification of the ‘Turkish stream' gas pipeline, which will be constructed by Russia, Turkish news agency Anadolu said Tuesday, December 6.

The two states froze the project after Russia's SU-24 was shot down by Ankara in November 2015. They went back to the deal after Erdogan and Putin held a reconciliation meeting in late July 2016.

Under the terms of the agreement, Russia will construct two pipelines in Turkey, aimed at supplying gas to the local market as well as the EU.

Ukraine has been cautious of the deal between Ankara and Moscow, saying it will lose 15% of its gas transit to Europe, if the ‘Turkish stream' goes live.

The construction of the project is expected to begin in 2018.
