Vlad Plahotniuc, the president of the DPM, met with Thorbjørn Jagland, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe. The president of DPM, Vlad Plahotniuc, currently on a working visit to Strasbourg met with Thorbjørn Jagland, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

The most pressing issues discussed at the meeting included the cooperation between the Council of Europe and the Republic of Moldova, the reforms implemented in 2016 and 2017 on the central public administration and functioning of justice, as well as the developments in the Transnistrian region.

The DPM leader, Vlad Plahotniuc has emphasized the importance of the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe and requested the CE to continue to offer support to our country. He also thanked Mr. Jagland for his visit to Chisinau in May, on the occasion of launching the Council of Europe Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova 2017-2020. „The Governing Coalition and the DPM fully support this plan and will provide its full political support to implement it.

Everything that concerns the issue of human rights and that of good functioning of justice is of great importance for Moldova”, Vlad Plahotniuc stated. In turn, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and the Council of Europe and welcomed the positive developments in the Transnistrian region, as well as the signature on November 25th of 4 protocols between Chisinau and Tiraspol.
