The President of European People's Party, Iurie Leancă, congratulated Maia Sandu for her results in the presidential elections. The leader of PPEM called her Maia Sandu and told that he is ready to help her with everything he can in the second round.

Leanca admitted that the result he obtained is weak, however, he explains this by defamation campaigns.

"I admit that the results that we have obtained is weak, but I should come with some explanations. Because there was a risk that Igor Dodon would win. I recognize that was a not so simple decision, because I was aware that my voters would not be oriented to Maia Sandu. These 3 percent, despite the defamation campaigns of those who have tried to convince people that I am retired, these 3 percent are loyal voters who could have stayed home. I wanted to avoid at all costs the victory in the first round of Igor Dodon and I like to think that I had a role in stopping the triumphant march of socialism. I want to thank all Moldovans, including those who voted for me, because now Maia Sandu has a chance to fight with Igor Dodon and recover the percentage of partition”, declared Iurie Leancă.

The PPEM leader added that in the second round he would vote for Maia Sandu: "and I urge everyone to do this".
