„Elections” in Transnistria // Vadim Krasnoselsky, new leader in Tiraspol
Electoral commission said that Vadim Krasnoselsky, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Transnistria, won the presidential elections in the unrecognized republic with 62 percent of votes.
Vadim Krasnoselsky, the chairman of the Supreme Council of Transnistria, won the presidential election in the unrecognized republic with 62 percent of votes, the electoral commission said Monday.
The election in the self-proclaimed state took place Sunday.
"According to results of the election, Vadim Krasnoselsky got a bit more than 62 percent of votes. His main opponent Yevgeny Shevchuk – 28 percent," the electoral commission told RIA Novosti.
Polling stations closed at 20:00 local time.
Vadim Krasnoselsky is the candidate of the party "Obnovlenie" belonging to the "Sheriff" group.
Vadim Krasnoselsky supports the integration in the Eurasian space and Transnistria joining the Russian Federation as a subject. This will happen, believes Krasnoselsky after Transnistria will get independence.
