President of the European Council, Donald Tusk is convinced that the European Union and Moldova cooperation is in the best interest of our country's reforms and future, after the meeting with President Igor Dodon.

"I remain convinced that EU-Moldova cooperation including AA/DCFTA [European Union Association Agreement/Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area - Editor's note] is in Moldova's best interest for reforms & future," declared Donald Tusk on Twitter.

In this context, Deschide.MD mentions that President Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page that "although, the forecasts on the development of Moldova after signing the Association Agreement with the EU were very optimistic, in fact, after two years of implementation, the situation in the country got worse".

"Here I am referring to both the macroeconomic indicators, quality of life, corruption perception indices, but also the independence of institutions and media freedom," the president said.

We remind you that this is the second official visit by President Igor Dodon, the first being in Moscow. At his meeting with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, the head of state said that PSRM will win the parliamentary elections in 2018 and intends to cancel the Association Agreement with the EU, signed by Moldova in 2014.
