Donald Tusk to Pavel Filip: You have all my personal support and the EU's in advancing reforms
Prime Minister Pavel Filip was met today in Brussels with the European Council President, Donald Tusk. The officials spoke about the priorities of domestic and foreign policy of the Republic of Moldova and the progress in implementing reforms.
In the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister congratulated the European official on the occasion of his reelection as President of the European Council. However, Pavel Filip said that Moldova remains firmly determined to implement the Moldova-EU Association Agreement and carrying out its commitments.
"We already have a number of important achievements in reforms. However, we realize that we must do more. Ensuring the independence of justice, combating corruption, improving the business climate and investigating bank fraud cases are key priority for us. We want to be a reliable partner of the EU, including in the context of preparations for the Eastern Partnership Summit in November 2017. We will be realistic and constructive to ensure the success of this event," said Pavel Filip.
In turn, the European Council President, Donald Tusk, welcomed the results and the determination of Moldovan authorities to persevere in strengthening democracy and the rule of law, a key element in ensuring the achievement of European integration of Moldova.
"You have all my personal support and of the EU to move towards reforms for the benefit of Moldovan citizens," said Donald Tusk.
We remind you that Pavel Filip performs, between March 29th to 31th, a visit to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and Belgium. In Brussels, the Head of the Executive will attend the third meeting of the Association Council Moldova - European Union, where it will be presented the Progress Report on Implementation of the Agenda of Moldova-EU's Association.
