Contradictory statements on the appointment of M. Sandu: Cibotaru say YES, Nastase says NO
Total confusion regarding the appointment on the common candidate of the right wing opposition, when the presidential elections are knocking at the door. After the PLDM president, Viorel Cibotaru stated categorically that the today's meeting decided that - Maia Sandu will be the mutual candidate on the part of the PLDM, PAS and PPDA, shortly after that, Andrei Nastase denied this information, accusing the "manipulation and disinformation in - the media space that is mostly controlled by the governance".
The first statement of Viorel Cibotaru confirming the appointment Maia Sandu - the single presidential candidate was made at 16:45 to Deschide.MD reporters: "I confirm that the PLDM, PAS and PPDA decided to appoint Maia Sandu as a common candidate in the presidential elections. Now the Liberal Democratic Party members need to reconfirm their support for her. We will first convene the Political Bureau and thereafter, as applicable, the National Political Council".
Asked what was the difference of digits in the decisive poll results which they have learned today, Cibotaru stated to us: "I will not comment on these figures because this will do Maia Sandu by a declaration in the near future."
Shortly after that, the PPDA President, Andrei Nastase has published on its Facebook account a comment in which he was denying the nomination of the unique candidate, coming with "the following information on the decision about a single candidate": "The offer of the Political Party "Platform Dignity and Truth" (PPDA), made constantly to the dialogue partners of PAS and PLDM, reiterated through the Political Bureau decision of 11 October 2016 remain valid until a formal response and comprehensiveness of the governing bodies of PAS,". Nastase also states precisely that "Friday, October 14, will be held the meeting of the National Political Council of the Truth and Dignity Platform which will analyze the situation and will adopt a statutory decision in the interests of citizens and the country."
It is visible that there are two statements that collide head to head and causing utter confusion on the trilateral decision taken today at the meeting of PLDM, PAS, PPDA and what is the fate of designation of the joint candidate. Until this hour Maia Sandu has not commented on any decision taken at the meeting in question, nor the statements of the two partners of negotiations.
We state precisely that the PLDM president confirmed and for other media institutions the decision taken at the meeting today, namely that Maia Sandu will be the joint candidate. Statements of this kind were made for: Realitatea.md, Radio Chișinău, News Maker etc.
