Plahotniuc, in the second round, would vote for Maia Sandu. „Igor Dodon, a real threat for Moldova!”
Dodon is a real threat to Moldova and a man who insists on his wrong and harmful ambitions, and Maia Sandu has a proper direction, says what she thinks, even if she screws up often. The statement was made by first Deputy President of the Democratic Party, Vlad Plahotniuc in an interview for the news portal Allmoldova.
He was referring to the presidential candidate who would benefit of PD support in the case Marian Lupu will not qualify for the second round.
"Between Maia Sandu and Igor Dodon, I choose Marian Lupu, of course. However, if we compare the two candidates mentioned by you, Dodon is a real threat for Moldova and a man who insists on his wrong and harmful ambitions. He's not a threat for me or PDM, we faced him with no problems so far (see also the motion of no confidence that failed 3 weeks ago), but he has an extraordinary ability to manipulate and could put the country on an extremely dangerous path from the position of President. I think that Maia Sandu has a proper direction, says what she thinks, even if she screws up often, is easily fooled and used in their wars. At least, she seems sincere and I did not see her promote harmful ideas for the national interest. Perhaps she would not be a good president, but I do not think she would destroy the country. Whatever the case is, I stick to the idea that Moldova should be run by a pro-European president”, Vlad Plahotniuc declared.
He also noted that both candidates, Igor Dodon and Maia Sandu have used his name to increase their popularity and increase in the polls, but now it is time to fend for themselves, because myths are no longer helpful.
"Dodon was more tenacious and has a higher score, Maia Sandu started to attack me after PLDM did not make her minister, when she only made a party, and has the lowest score. That in the case we amuse ourselves of the way how political projects and political heroes appear and disappear here. I think that both should get rid of dependence on myths and false saviors images of the nation, and show people what they can solve for them, not what beautiful posts they put on Facebook or other strong words they can say," Plahotniuc pointed out.
The politician also says that "lgor Dodon should think very well on the consequences of his ideas, because if by an unfortunate situation he becomes president and abandons the European path, he knows what I can, he will see what are real protests. If he succeeds to make me a hero of the pro-European revolution, you are going to see how I change my rating in one day. I do not think he wants this".
