Group of members of first Parliament announce support for Maia Sandu in elections
A group of members of the first Parliament, who are signatories of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova, said they will support candidate Maia Sandu in the October 30 presidential elections.
In a statement presented in a news conference at IPN, the almost 30 signatories say that today Maia Sandu is the representative of all the people who want to live here, at home, in a prosperous country and who want Moldova to go to the West and be near the civilized nations of the EU, IPN reports.
"After a common candidate was nominated, hope appeared again that we can beat the corrupt system, the irresponsible political class and that we have real chances of freeing one of the most important state institutions, the presidential institution, from the oligarchic influence. The common candidate Maia Sandu no longer represents a political party or a group of parties. She represents the firm wish of all the honest people to free the state institutions from captivity," signatory Valentin Dolganiuc read the statement.
He noted that two dangers now threaten Moldovan society. The first is internal and comes from the ‘oligarchized’ political class, while the second is external and comes from the Kremlin’s mercenaries and their perfidious plan to isolate Moldova from Romania, the European Union and its western neighbor Ukraine. Only the exemplary mobilization of the people who realize this and assume responsibility for Moldova’s future can save the country from both of the dangers.
"We call on everyone to mobilize and vote for Maia Sandu on October 30 so as to give the presidential institution back to the people. We demand that the candidates who say they are pro-European and unionist should withdraw from the electoral race and make common cause with Maia Sandu," stated Valentin Dolganiuc.
Vasile Soimaru, a member of the first Parliament, said the people can no longer endure the current situation and, if the state of affairs does not change, the young people could leave and only pensioners will remain in the country.
Nadejda Branzan noted that alongside her colleagues, she struggled for the language and alphabet without fear of the power and they soon managed to lay the foundations of a state. They never anticipated that all the state institutions will become captured and the people will be afraid to take a step.
Vasile Zgardan called upon his colleagues from the first Parliament to become involved in the pre-election struggle and to tell the people what they voted for once. He also called on the people to support Maia Sandu, who is the only candidate who represents the people and their wishes.
Among the signatories of the statement are Vladimir Besleaga, Vasile Zgardan, Nadejda Branzan, Alexandru Mosanu, Mihai Patras, Ion Neagu, Dumitru Postovan, Ion Hadarca, Vasile Nastase, Tudor Topa, Nicolae Robu, Ion Madan, Valentin Dolganiuc, Alecu Renita, Anatol Taranu, Aurel Saulea, Gheorghe Ciobanu, Dumitru Noroc, Alexandru Arseni, Ion Margineanu, Dumitru Holban, Elena Balan, Nicolae Moraru, Mircea Rusu, Anatol Saragov, Boris Carandiuc, and Vasile Soimaru.
