The Speaker of Parliament, Andrian Candu, denies the information published by Ion Sturza, that the FMI board refused yesterday to examine the issue of signing a financing memorandum with Moldova. In a statement made for Deschide.MD, the Speaker says that "Mr Sturza either becomes a very missinformed person, or he becomes a liar person who is trying to manipulate the public opinion, especially as he does it in a electoral context."

"It is not true that the FMI does not intend to examine the issue of signing a memorandum with Moldova and you will see that in the nearest future we will have news from Washington. And on this occasion I would like to challenge Mr Sturza: if what I say is confirmed, he will he agree to come in the Central Square and to apologize to the citizens that he manipulates, but also from our partners that yet again he misinforms?" stated Andrian Candu.

The Speaker of the Parliament also said that it was never discussed the date of October 19 as the day that the FMI would consider the issue of the memorandum with Moldova.

"At the last discussion that I've had myself at Washington, but also those that had the Moldovan delegation, including Mr. Governor of BNM - Sergiu Cioclea and the Minister of Finance - Octavian Armasu was discussed that the meeting will be held in late October or early November. For the reason that the signing of a Memorandum take several procedures, I abstain to make further statements because that is the responsibility of the FIM," added the official.

Andrian Candu concluded with the fact that "Mr. Sturza, as the former Prime-Minister, probably should know that topics related to finance and economics must be approached with tact and a certain attitude. It does not suits him to do what he does, especially if it does he claims to be a professional."

The former Prime-Minister, Ion Sturza wrote today on Facebook that the members of Executive Board of FMI have not discussed the program of cooperation with the Moldovan Government at the last meeting of 19 October. He believes that funding from this international organization will not be offered this year.

Coincidence or not, but Sturza's announcement came after two congressmen wrote yesterday to the management of FMI not to give money to Moldova until they do not ensure that they will not be received by those who stole the billion. A copy of the letter in question was published by Andrei Nastase on facebook and previously, the PPDA leader met with two senior US officials.

We publish below the full post by Ion Sturza:

We remind you that in the first days of October, the Speaker Andrian Candu had in Washington, a series of meetings with the leadership of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The discussions focused the level of achievement of the FMI preconditions for Moldova to benefit from a program of economic reforms, supported by a financing arrangement for a period of 3 years, by means of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and Extended Credit Facility (ECF).

According to the press service of the Parliament, Andrian Candu discussed with the new Executive Director of FMI, Anthony de Lannoy and Vice President for Europe and Central Asia at the World Bank, Cyril Muller about the level of realization of FMI preconditions.
