The arrogance of Maia Sandu „kept” Iurie Leanca in the electoral race
The candidate of European People's Party in Moldova, for the position of president, Iurie Leanca, claims that particularly the reaction "totally emotional and irrational of Maia Sandu" helped to change the PPEM decision, namely to stay in the electoral race.
After he announced his decision at a press conference, to remain in the electoral race, Leanca stated that three days ago, his personally decision was to withdraw however from the race "to help Maia Sandu to access into the second round". However, after "the totally irrational and emotional reaction of Maia Sandu to reject the PD eletorate" the PPEM candidate changed his position because "there is a very high risk that Dodon will become president from the first round."
"It is true since the day before yesterday I decided to withdraw from the race to help Maia Sandu to accede to the second round. I knew there was threat in second round. That is why I invited the other day the colleagues from the territory to consult on that decision, but my decision was already taken. But after what I saw yesterday: Mr. Lupu's decision to withdraw, the emotional reaction and totally irrational of Maia Sandu to reject the PD electorate, I realized that there is a very high risk that Dodon will become president from the first round. Unfortunately Mrs. Sandu kicked off almost 13-15 percent of the electorate which means around 200 thousand Moldovan citizens entitled to vote. I understand that the PDM leadership is an absolute evil but you can not reject those who vote PDM because they are neither criminals nor murderers. Maia Sandu unfortunately has offered the PDM electorate directly into the hands of Dodon," added Leanca.
Asked how he qualifies that Maia Sandu said during a televised debate that does not want to discuss with the PPEM candidate, but urged his electorate to vote for her, Iurie Leanca said: "I would ask you to ask this question to Mrs Sandu. It is a proud and arrogant attitude and I regret that she did not go to compromise. The unwillingness to mobilize all the pro-European electorate precisely can lead us to the situation when Dodon could win from the first round."
We remind you that yesterday, after the PD candidate, Marian Lupu, announced his withdrawal from the electoral race in favor for Maia Sandu, in the media appeared information that Iurie Leanca would withdraw his candidacy. Immediately after the announcement made by the Democrats, the PAS candidate, Maia Sandu came with a virulent reaction, and some sources from the PPEM have told us that these reactions have influenced the postponement of a decision, on staying or leaving of Iurie Leanca from the electoral race.
And the Democratic Party issued a communique through which considers the reaction of the joint candidate, Maia Sandu "is an emotive and inadequate one, which sends an aggressive message the PDM electorate and is disturbing it." Meanwhile the Democrats hope that the maturity of their electorate will "treat with understanding this moment and they will vote on Sunday in favor of continuing further the Moldova's European path".
