The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lazar Comanescu, underlined the need to continue an active support of NATO to the Eastern partners - Ukraine, Georgia and Republic of Moldova. Romanian Minister of Foreign Affairs attends, in the period 6-7 December 2016, the works of the NATO ministerial meeting that takes place in Brussels, the first meeting at this level after the NATO Summit in Warsaw.

"The Head of Romanian Diplomacy stressed the need of a balanced and comprehensive NATO approach in designing stability, within which the means of action should be adapted to the current situation in the Eastern and Southern neighborhood and to the specific interests and needs of various partner countries. He underlined in this context the need to continue an active support of NATO to the Eastern partners - Ukraine, Georgia and Republic of Moldova - and recommended the full implementation of the already agreed assistance packages, as well as the identification of new measures that would meet the needs of these states to reinforce national resilience and advance reforms in the areas of defense and security. He also expressed Romania's support for a more active approach of NATO in relation to the countries in the Western Balkans, focused on obtaining actual results and developing cooperation with them," is shown in a press release of MFA Romania.

The discussions revealed the firm commitment of all member states for maintaining NATO cohesion and solidarity, based on a strong trans-Atlantic relation, for the strengthening of which all allied states will continue to invest for the benefit of the Euro-Atlantic and international security.
