President of the Liberal Party, Mihai Ghimpu, asked the PM Pavel Filip to submit a request of withdrawal of the Minister of Defence, Anatol Salaru, from the position of Minister of Defence.

The declaration was done by Ghimpu in the TV show "În Profunzime" [In depth - Editor's note] from ProTV channel. The Liberal mentioned: "I have already signed a request to the Prime Minister where I ask him to submit an initiative to the President for the dismissal of Anatol Salaru from the post of Defense Minister."

PL President accuses the Defence Minister that he wanted to destroy the fraction and asked for convening the party congress to elect a new leadership of the PL.

"Several deputies and chairmen of Territorial Organizations reported in detail the trials and pressures of Mr. Anatol Salaru to dissolve the Faction of the Liberal Party in the parliament and the party, some people have proposed different money and favors. And mayors of PL were approached. Mr. Anatol Salaru did not have the courage to recognize his actions, he said he just spoke with several colleagues about convening an extraordinary congress. Asked why he had not approached the subject at the Political Bureau meetings, he did not give an answer. We note that throughout this period, Mr. Anatol Salaru in coordination with several news portals in Moldova and Romania, coordinated the appearance of several sponsored articles in which were denigrated public figures in the Liberal Party, documented and tested actions, including several sources. We are also able to confirm that Anatol Salaru in the last two months had a common PR strategy with Igor Dodon that informed the latter on the systematic agenda and actions of PL, strategy which involved the instigation of artificial scandals. Tonight decision of the Political Bureau of the PL, was not easy, is one, which complies with the statute of the party and an action to prevent a new 'April 2013'," is stated in a press release of the Liberal Party.

Mihai Ghimpu added that Ghimpu added that "he has nothing to do with the conflict" between the two, "he began to attract members, to bribe, to destroy the fraction, but my colleagues and I cannot admit this. At the Bureau meeting, deputies confirmed the discussions that Mr. Salaru had, he proposed money for leaving the party. He acknowledged this and blames the convocation of the congress, but in fact, the mission was to break up the party and fraction. All my colleagues have heard, I do not want to name them because it is a political decision and not a criminal one," said the Liberal leader stating that "Nobody wants the convocation of the Congress."
