OFFICIAL // Igor Dodon became the fifth president of the Republic of Moldova
President-elect Igor Dodon, was formally sworn in as head of state. The event was attended by official dignitaries and several diplomats.
He took the oath with his hand on the Constitution, after which he was formally sworn in by interim president of the Constitutional Court of Moldova, Victor Popa.
"I swear to devote all my strength and skill to the advancement of the Republic of Moldova, to respect the Constitution and laws of the country, to defend democracy, human rights and fundamental freedoms, sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Moldova", swore Igor Dodon.
Before the inauguration and oath ceremony, Igor Dodon made a speech on the steps of the Republican Palace, addressing his supporters.
The head of state will lay flowers at the monument to Stephen the Great.
We remind you that on November 13 at the runoff of the presidential election, about 55% of Moldovan citizens have given their vote for Igor Dodon, while Maia Sandu received approximately 45%.
