The former Liberal minister of defense Anatol Salaru made public his intention to found a political party of the right if he does not manage to convoke an extraordinary congress of the Liberal Party and to dismiss Mihai Ghimpu from the post of chairman of the party. He made the announcement in the program “Pahomi” on Realitatea TV channel

Salaru said that in the middle of this month, he was called to Brussels where he was suggested to do something as Mihai Ghimpu destroys the party, but he expressed his skepticism about his chances, IPN reports.

“I don’t think I will manage to convoke the PL’s extraordinary congress during two weeks and to ensure I’m chosen chairman of the party. I will create a political platform that will become a political party of the right in several months. The PL is now at a crossroads. If no changes are made now, in two years nobody will remember this party,” stated the ex-minister.

Anatol Salaru revealed that he intends to attract as many valuable people as possible to his political project.

“The Republic of Moldova lacks not political parties, but valuable people in politics. We have valuable people, but they do not form part of parties. If we manage to bring these people together, we have chances in the future parliamentary elections,” he stated.

Anatol Salaru also said that he sees no reasons to cause early parliamentary elections.

“I think the Filip Government will complete its duties. This Government does serious work and does its job. Stability was already ensured. It wasn’t easy after the political crisis and the hybrid war waged by the Russian Federation through the agency of Igor Dodon and Renato Usatyi,” he stated.

Anatol Salaru was discharged from the post of minister of the interior by President Igor Dodon at the request of the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu, who announced that they withdrew the political support for Salaru and accused him of pursuing the goal of destroying the party.

We remind you that on Tuesday, December 27, Dodon signed the decree on the dismissal of Minister of Defense Anatol Salaru at the request of the PL leadership. Yesterday, Liberal MP Artur Gutium announced that he dissociates himself from the decision of the Political Council of the Liberal Party, which led to the dismissal of Salaru from the governing bodies of the party, declaring his support for the already former minister of defense.
