Plahotniuc: Solving the Transnistrian conflict - only in the 5+2 format, without "outside" solutions
PDM believes that the Transnistrian conflict settlement can only be done through dialogue, in the 5 +2, not through solutions identified outside of this format. A statement to this effect was published in a press release of the party, as well on the Facebook account of the President of the Democratic Party, Vlad Plahotniuc.
"Regarding the issue of federalization of the country, an idea promoted by the socialists and President Igor Dodon, PDM believes that this is not a solution that contributes to the country's reintegration, but rather opens a wide road towards splitting it. It is an approach that can stress and lead on a wrong and dangerous negotiation process.
PDM will advocate for furthering the dialogue in the 5+2 format, where will be appropriate solutions in a transparent way. Neither the citizens nor our partners in dialogue on the Transnistrian issue, neither the Constitution does not provide premises to discuss seriously the prospect of division of Moldova in several federal subjects ", writes the communique of the Democrats.
PDM says that it supported and it will strongly support the unitary character of the State of Moldova and it will make efforts aimed at the country's territorial reunification without being harmed its integrity.
The President Igor Dodon said yesterday during his official visit to Moscow that the political settlement of the Transnistrian conflict can be achieved in the next 2-3 years. Igor Dodon said that the Transnistrian conflict could be resolved in the early 2000s by implementing the Kozak plan. This opportunity, according to the president, was missed.

In turn, the Socialists writes on their page that PSRM kept a stable vector for the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict. Since 2013, PSRM developed and made public a draft of the reintegration of Moldova on principles of federalism. The support of this project was mentioned in the last two congresses resolutions of the Socialist Party of Moldova. In the opinion of the Socialists currently this is the only way of peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict and reintegration of the country.
