Moldovan President, Igor Dodon, sent a letter to the Government asking that the introduction of "History of Moldova" discipline in the school curriculum. Dodon said that all humanitarian disciplines in the education system were leased to Romania since 1990.

Igor Dodon refers to a dispute involving the Council of Europe after which had been recommended the exclusion of the ethnocentric character and to rename the discipline of History of Romanians in The History.

At the same time, the maintaining in the curriculum of Romanian history is impeding the consolidation of Moldovan statehood, and the majority of Moldovan population would introduce into the curriculum of the history of Moldova.

Dodon insists that the new discipline is to be implemented starting the academic year 2017-2018.
