Andrei Pântea, remains in custody. The Appeal Court rejected the appeal of lawyers
The Former Temporary Prosecutor General, remains in custody. The Magistrates dismissed the appeal of Andrei Pantea lawyers on his placement in custody. The decision was made today at the Court of Appeal.
Pantea is detained for "ultra vires" in the Karamalak folder. He received 25 days in the isolator on October 13. The decision was taken by Buiucani Court magistrates.
He was detained by anti-corruption prosecutors, who incriminated him that he passed illegally to the the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation the criminal dossier on the name of Grigore Karamalak interlope. Subsequently, the Russian Prosecutor's Office dismissed the case on the grounds that the Moldovan side infringed several procedural rules related to passing a criminal case.
Andrei Pantea left the system in September 2015 after several scandals and accusations against him. He led for a few months, the Prosecutor General's Office after the resignation in January 2013 of Valeriu Zubco. Pantea was then first deputy prosecutor general, a post he held since March 2010. After the termination of the mandate at the beginning of 2015 Andrei Pantea was transferred to the position of Deputy Prosecutor of Chisinau municipality, Ion Diacov. Pantea however resigned in September 2015, days after former municipal prosecutor, Ion Diacov has accused him during a press conference that he violated the law.
