The representatives of the Labor, Social Protection and Family Ministry presented the basic landmarks and benefits seen in the draft law on pension reform. Among the main goals are: ensuring operation of a sustainable pension system, reducing inequities in the pension system, creating an attractive pension system, ensuring transparent governance and enhanced management capacities of the pension system.

Filip noted that the pension system must ensure social equity and the pension amount must match the contributions paid by beneficiary at the social insurance budget. At the same time, it is scheduled the same retirement age and same length of service for different categories of beneficiaries. Thus, the special and privileged conditions for retirement will be dropped for certain categories of people.

In the context, the premier also pointed out that the retirees’ benefits were to be increased by valuing the insured income of person from previous years of work. He asked the Labor, Social Protection and Family Ministry to speed up approving the draft law on pension reform and to ensure publication of document for public consultation. At the same time, the relevant ministry is to conduct a large communication campaign, so that the people should be informed about the provisions and benefits of the pension reform.
