Chirtoaca asks chain suspensions following the scandal of rotten foods in kindergartens
Mayor of Chisinau ordered the suspension of the heads of all directorates of education from the districts of the capital. At the same time, deputies, accountants, procurement chiefs, and head of the General Directorate of Education - Tatiana Nagnibeda Tverdohleb were suspended. The head of the Directorate of Health, Mihai Moldovanu was appointed as the head of the working group responsible for the internal investigation started on this subject will come up with the list of persons that will be appointed instead of those suspended.
Mayor also promised to several mothers who came to the City Hall that the person in charge of procurement will be discharged "without any discussions, in addition to the criminal case that is initiated by the law authorities."
The announcement was made by the mayor before the meeting of the City Hall after a group of parents protested at its beginning in regard to the level of corruption in preschool institutions and within different directions of the city hall and the state institutions .
Before the start of the city hall's meeting, several parents came up with a banner saying "Corruption kills the future" They asked to be given the opportunity to express their opinion before beginning the meeting.
We remind that last week, CNA and anti-corruption prosecutors have conducted several searches in public institutions and in the homes of officials from education and some economic agents. The searches occurred within a criminal case opened in March. It's about arranging tenders related to providing food to schools and kindergartens in the capital. Investigators found not just forging the public procurement process, but also the delivery of rotten foods in educational institutions.
Later, Mayor of Chisinau, Dorin Chirtoaca ordered an investigation at the workplace due to the fact that the National Anti-Corruption Center and Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office started an investigation on the organization of tenders for providing food to schools and kindergartens in Chisinau, but also on the quality of products delivered by businessmen to the institutions of preschool and pre-university education.
Following the operation 17 people were detained and subsequently were arrested. 23 people have a suspect status.
