Lazar Comanescu: Respecting the sovereignty of Moldova - a high priority for Romania

The foreign minister, Lazar Comanescu, attended Thursday, on September 1st 2016 the Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers of OSCE participating States at Postdam (Germany).
On this occasion, the Romanian chief diplomat conveyed key messages on areas of priority interest for Romania, focusing on reconfirm support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and to spur OSCE to act in resolving protracted conflicts.
In this context, the Foreign Minister noted that, for Romania, solving the Transnistrian conflict by respecting the sovereignty and teritorial integrity of Moldova stays a major priority. He congratulated the Presidency-in-Office of OSCE for organizing a successful round of negotiations in the "5 + 2" format (Berlin, June 2 to 3, 2016) OSCE Presidency-in-office for the success of mediating a meeting in the "5+2" format (Berlin, June 2-3, 2016), stating also the importance of their resumption, after two years of interruption.
The Minister, Lazar Comanescu, also highlighted out the need for full implementation of commitments of OSCE participating States in all three dimensions of the Organization's work: politico-military, economic and environmental and human. He pointed out the specific contribution of Romania in the context that Romania holds the mandate of President of the OSCE Security Committee in 2016, as well as preparations for the takeover in early 2017 chairmanship of the Forum for Security Cooperation/FSC.
The head of Romanian diplomacy encouraged proper functioning of autonomous OSCE mechanisms and institutions, as well as the presence of the Organisation in the field. At the same time, he supported the implementation of OSCE commitments in combating transnational threats and promoting integrated approaches to security challenges multidimensional impact.
