Nicolae Timofti signed the decree on Eduard Harunjen appointment as the prosecutor general. The document got on the president's table last night. A few minutes ago, Harunjen took the oath before the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP). The information was confirmed by our sources within the General Prosecutor's Office. The CSP President, Mircea Rosioru, the Secretary General of the Presidency, Ion Paduraru, and Eduard Harunjen do not answer the phone to confirm the information. Only one of the above-mentioned sources sent us a message, asking us to wait for the press release.
(UPDATE 13:40) Presidency confirms that Nicolae Timofti today, December 8, signed a decree on the appointment of Eduard Harunjen to the office of Prosecutor General for 7 years, at the proposal of the Superior Council of Prosecutors.
"According to the law, after signing the decree, Mr. Harunjen took the oath before the President of the Republic of Moldova and members of the Superior Council of Prosecutors" is said in the press release.
