On the weekend we witnessed the revival of PPDA. Not the revival of Andrei Nastase's party, but his rebirth in a Congress and a street demonstration, once again alongside "Our Party" and some Socialists. Under the sway of emotion aroused by the demonstrations in Bucharest and throughout Romania, the right-wing fragmented opposition tried to climb the wave and take advantage somehow of transfer of the image from which came from television screens worldwide.

The big issue is the fundamental difference between the two actions. A difference of substance, not to mention the number. Because PPDA did not announced itself neither as any movement that supports the Romanism in Chisinau (and even, in the past, it casted out from the square the unionists and instead embraced the thesis of civic Moldovenism); nor a pro-European one: in Congress they talked about rules of European type, not about integration into the EU as a target, not to mention the support of European reforms (which would require the support of at least sequentially government if not criticizing and pressing it to make more profound and faster reforms). It did not announced itself, unfortunately, not even as a movement against corruption, the sentence was not - as it was expected, logical - the support of the work of the specialized agencies and fight against corruption, but fight against so-called captive state and Vlad Plahotniuc, respectively of the current majority and forcing of early elections that are impossible to organize, even along with the pro-Russians, with the risk of overthrow the strategic direction of the state, eventually.

But perhaps the most questionable is the comeback to the streets along with representatives of "Our Party" and of those from the Party of Socialists. Or such a move is suicidal for PPDA which recreates the pro-anti-oligarch front, and even makes contradictory references to President Igor Dodon: he is in Plahotniuc's pocket, however, it is expected to be launched a referendum to withdraw of assuming to the state budget the debt of one billion from banks fall. If Andrei Nastase does not know how economy works it is his problem, but for PPDA it is suicide. How can you militate against an evidence required by the IMF - which is taking people's money and cost the companies from Moldova - which is without any alternative, really?

As for the position against Igor Dodon, Andrei Nastase was silent as a mouse regarding Dodon's statements in Moscow and Nastase does not care from what position he will criticize the majority or the Government. And the lack of response in defense of his pro-European ideas, if he has any, or those in defense of the partnership with Romania, which gave to the citizens of Moldova resources to survive in winter are - euphemistically speaking - a big dilemma. Instead, the alignment with the Socialists and the supporters of Usatii against a government that does, however, European reforms, hardly passes as a struggle with the oligarch who is keeping the state captive.

PPDA proves that it still has complicated issues of communication, especially on the matter of options and political orientations. In terms of action, it seems frozen in its sole concern of gaining power, no matter along with whom, no matter for what purpose, only to cast out the government and the current majority. Get up, so can I sit in the chair, is the only orientation of PPDA...

Another big problem is defined today: the initiation of actions on its own, without considering the agreements, the partnerships and the need for agglutination of the pro-European right wing from the street. It declares itself the only opposition party, forgetting that Maia Sandu won almost 48% of votes in the presidential elections in Moldovan, being close to snatch Dodon's victory. The legitimacy of a lone wolf approach, which never went through one election, is as reprehensible as that of association with the left wing pro-Russian opposition! For the credibility that is not given by the vote remains only in the imagination of Nastase, whose party colleagues ruled their sleeves because Maia Sandu did not win the presidential competition, carousing far into the day after the election.

The return to life it is welcomed. However, on substance, PPDA has much to change and owes consistency and clear detachment of pro-Russian orientation even to its own supporters. If not, it will confuse itself politically with the left wing and will lose the electorate as soon as a formula of coherent political agglutination of right wing will appear on the public spectrum. We expect the movement of PAS and Mrs. Sandu and the appeal to the common platform of the right wing of opposition to prepare the elections on time. Consistent approaches, of content, not small apropos to marginal social policies criticized until today (like: meal vouchers) and absence from major anti-Dodon positioning, anti-return to the Russo-Soviet Empire, strategical anti-reorientation, pro-European declared.

As for the massive protests in Romania, the ability of Romanian society was proved again, even with a fragile opposition, to defend their interests and to limit the punishable starts of a power that ignores the desire of anti-corruption or maintain unswerving the European road. Even if they were just after elections, a month after winning substantially the power, when they wanted to get out of the lines of its program and has passed an emergency ordinance which affected the fight against corruption and saved some culprits, softened the penalties or hindered the action against those outlaws, the society reacted as well through massive demonstrations and marches, obtained the repeal of the ordinance in question, bringing substantial losses to those who generated it in terms of public trust and legitimacy.

The actual costs shall be seen in the next period, but Romania resumed its posture and the path in respecting the European values, assuming and relocation and limiting the provisions which could give birth to excesses and abuses against the rights of the defense, where it occurred, and adjusting the elements that could give birth to errors in the judiciary system. And the massive movement in the street has brought to the Romanian citizens in the country and abroad and to Romania, the pride that they are Romanians, the prestige of European country with sophisticated, mature democracy, which is able to solve its own problems and possible sideslips. That is what democracy means, the balance and the control of powers and rulers by those who are ruled.

As lessons learned for Moldova, firstly it must be consolidated the pro-European orientation, because the comeback to Moscow and the Euro-Asian Union of Putin brings no reform, no control mechanism over the discretionary abusive power, or for combating corruption and installation of legality. After that, it must be supported, if not forced, real reforms on this path; and the majority must be pressed as weel as the government to respect the roadmaps of reforms and make real and profound reforms. Anyway, once the mechanisms are installed and the mechanism is oiled, it will do its duty to grind anyone who broke the law: to bring him to court, to confiscate his wealth illegally obtained and to put him behind bars, whoever he is, how powerful or how voted he would be. The legitimacy is secured not only by vote, but also by respecting the law and the governing cannot be done democratically, unless with the public support and in the public interest, not in favor of some potentates who are temporary at the helm of state or of institutionalized real power holders.
