Igor Dodon announced that these days he will have a meeting with the IMF representatives in Chisinau, to convince them to accept his legislative initiative on the annulment of the law that places the stolen billions on the shoulders of the citizens. The statement was made during the TV show "Access Direct".

"My initiative has been criticized, but I want to see if they will support or not it in the Parliament, since it must be examined and voted by MPs. Obviously that 24 MPs from the faction of the Socialists will support this initiative, but we still need 27 votes. I am available to discuss with other parliamentary factions to explain why I have supported this initiative," Dodon said.

The President also said that citizens will have to repay every year 700 thousand or one billion, meaning the repayment of 25 billion and not 13 billion that have been stolen.

"They will have to pay back every year 700 thousand or one billion lei. Instead of this money going to pensions, wages, agriculture, development, we will be forced to give this money to the National Bank according to this law. My proposal is to cancel this law and we know other solutions how to overcome this situation. I will have a meeting  with the International Monetary Fund in the coming days, which insisted to be approved this law, and I'll bring my arguments to try to find a solution in this situation and I think it is possible to find it," said the head of state, meaning the total repayment of 25 billion and not 13 billion that have been stolen.

We remind you that on Wednesday, the President, Igor Dodon signed the legislative initiative on the cancellation of the law involving the passing on the shoulders of the citizens the repayment of the stolen billions from the banking system.

On the same day, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, told Deschide.MD that the president's proposal would be a "legal blunder". It refers to the annulment of a law that already has consumed the legal effect.

Also, PM Pavel Filip criticized Dodon's initiative on the annulment of the „billion” repayment law. It is a populist one and that the new head of state, "enters in office with the wrong foot".

Before starting today's cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister Filip, said that if the Government and the Parliament had not done this, then Moldova would lose a lot of external funding.

His proposal was welcomed by the communist and liberal democratic opposition, but criticized by the parliamentary majority and the government.
