The citizens of Moldova with the right to vote will be able to cast their ballots with the expired passport. A decision to this effect was taken by the Central Election Commission on October 14, IPN reports.

CEC member Iurie Ciocan said that according to the data of the state-run Information Resources Center “Registru”, there are almost 410,000 persons with passports whose period of validity expired. The condition is for the expired passport to contain the personal numerical code, which is not indicated in the passports issued before 2000.

A number of 100 polling places will be established outside Moldova’s borders for the October presidential elections. Of these, 25 polling places will be opened in Italy, 11 in Romania, 8 in Russia, while 7 in the U.S.
