Mihai Ghimpu believes that Prime Minister Pavel Filip is obliged to dismiss Defense Minister Anatol Salaru after PL Political Bureau withdrew his political support. Ghimpu also states that Salaru intended to make another right-wing party in coordination with Bucharest. The statements were made in an interview for Radio Free Europe.

The statements were made in an interview for Radio Free Europe.

"This is the party's decision. They are obliged, both to respect the decision of the party that has accepted participation in the government. It was always like this and it is like this. It means he's in the league. We will see, I do not want to anticipate," Ghimpu said when asked what would happen if the government will not dismiss the Defence Minister.

PL leader also said that some party members have confirmed discussions with Salaru that the latter would have tried to persuade them to leave the party, with the intention to create a coordinated party with Bucharest.

"... Of course those who were contacted, they said openly:" Yes, I was contacted and proposed to leave. That this idea comes from Bucharest ". And in Bucharest a member, one of our colleagues said when he met with Iohannis and hinted that it comes from there, that here must be a party of the right and Ghimpu's dead body, and Dorin Chirtoaca is politically dead and from those four he is the only one left to be president."

Mihai Ghimpu also commented on Basescu's declarations on Salaru:

"Basescu should bother of his party, I do not interfere in his party and he does not have anything to interfere in our party. If the day comes, I will remove myself, I have many to say, but I do not want to do it. I, compared with him, I am a more responsible man, anyway, I respect that he was a Romanian President and I cue some things to I can tell. Mind their own business. He also blamed Salaru when called out people to voting, he said. "Come on, Romanian brothers, go out and prove that we are more than 1.8%". And how much did they gain? Less than 1.8%, Basescu's party."

Mihai Ghimpu also said he does not care that Salaru's dismissal will mean a favor for Igor Dodon. He said he does not see why the parliamentary majority should be reformatted and has expressed conviction that without PL, the government would not do anything. At the end of the interview, Ghimpu concludes: I hope this time we got rid of all the great "heroes" of 90s forever.
